about

Originally released in 2010, this marked the first in a three-part series (with "Progressive Lycanthropy" and "A Desperate Expediency") on the psychic toll taken by modern warfare, torture, and states of permanent emergency (all very interlinked phenomena).

This was originally inspired by the combat sound collages of Åke Hodell (his 'Strukturer III' in particular), the aesthetic sensibility of Iannis Xenakis, and (last but not least) numerous accounts of post-traumatic stress from anonymous combatants. My hope for these little abstractions was to pull back momentarily from the corporate media's worthless, yet apparently profitable clickbait portrayal of humanity at its worst, and to remind that there are much more intimate effects of this cruelty that cannot be relayed via reportage and cannot be alleviated by the belief in the rightness of any given casus belli.
