about

One from my archive of compilation tracks that were supposed to have been. In 2011, a nice French couple was to release a book on what was, at the time, very trendy "noise" theory. I was asked to contribute both an essay and an audio track that would illustrate the concepts behind it.

The written piece, "Welcome to 2084: The Age of Overload Aesthetics" has actually been translated into multiple languages, appearing in culture journals from Spain to Lithuania. Both the essay and the music were inspired by the classic arcade game Robotron 2084, and the way that it aestheticized something like a visual equivalent of audial noise.

As you have probably already guessed, much of the source material from this song is sampled from the game and subsequently warped via Jitter and other applications I now forget.

This has no similarity to Cage's similarly named composition, though I couldn't resist naming it as such since (*Williams* Electronics was after all the company responsible for Robotron).
