One in a series of TBWB live recordings from around the world, 2002-present.

This set took place at the Volstead Lounge in Austin, February of 2017. Local artist Carl Smith was guest 'curator' for the evening and graciously invited me on the evening, where I presented a kind of 'alternate soundtrack' to a rare Super 8 film 'Amalgama' by Spanish filmmaker Ivan Zulueta (notably of 'Arrebato' fame). I imagine this was likely the first local screening of this odd alchemical film.

I largely played away from the stage in order to keep audience focus upon the mix of cinematic visuals and largely improvised sounds, and to not bring undue attention to any acts of instrumental virtuosity that I might have managed. That said, this set does feature some sonic moments that surprised me with their timing and intensity, and thus I feel it's worth sharing an audio-only document without the film component. I may attempt this again in the near future, with other works that have either never had an original soundtrack or, in this case, had one that I felt pinned it too closely to the time and place of its origin.

I believe Alex Keller may have recorded this one, I can't remember exactly. There is some audience noise scattered throughout, but it actually makes the 'obliterating' portions of this all the more enjoyable.
