Well, would you look at that, at long last a new physical product for those who asked for it. The debut analog release of U.G. featuring a sextet of mind-warping, strangely conceived, original mixes of leftfield techno. Download code / unlimited streaming included.

Package includes pro-dubbed (premium ferric), normal bias tape with 4-panel, full-colour J-card in clear Norelco case.

The lovely toxic-green shell version is limited to 50 copies. I will do re-presses of this if and when demanded; I had a different initial choice of shell colour but this is quite nice also, and what we have for now - so pounce on it!

Each copy of this run is signed and numbered. Limit of 2 tapes per customer, please.

PLEASE CONTACT ME for exact shipping costs to countries outside of North America - it has been a while since I've had anything to ship and so I will have to review international shipping rates prior to sending.

about

Here is the new stealth release from my Unsichtbare Gegner project, “Invisible BodyMusic”- now available digitally, with cassette forthcoming and (possibly) LPs. I composed this mostly in secret in January 2023, and have now made it available after shearing the more sentimental or frivolous parts from the original drafts and leaving something much closer to my intentions.

Unlike my previous U.G. salvos, which were re-visitations of project files that had languished on legacy computers since 2013-2014, this is entirely new material, with the exception of a few audio samples so cosmetically operated upon that they bear no resemblance to how they previously sounded. Much of the previous material was also made entirely with said audio samples and very little MIDI, whereas there’s a much better balance in the upcoming tracks.

This is “electronic” and is certainly more straightforward “dance music” than the non-visual cinema I’ve recorded under my own name. However, as far as the aims of this music go, this is better understood as an extension / renewal of the spirit of “post-industrial” rhythmic music than as something parallel to the more limited sphere of official DJ / party culture. Points of reference include for example Esplendor Geometrico, Severed Heads, Richard H. Kirk, Coil, Clock DVA, Mark Stewart & Maffia, etc….and the considerable cohort of Techno artists that themselves would take cues from the above. I particularly identify with music made by those who were creatively active in other areas than music, as I am.

Sure, this has been done before. I don't care. I'm not interested in issues of self-image or posterity that would cause all my decisions to be motivated by the anxiety of influence - especially while the world is on the brink of "90 seconds to midnight" immolation. I feel there is enough of a continuity between the mythologized “80s-90s” and the present, that the kind of music on display here is essentially the folk music of our time. Besides all that, this material is tons of *fun* for me to record: I hope this energizes others to return serve with their own creations, and to momentarily stop sampling the thousand flavors of hate and fear that are social media and corporate entertainment.

Enjoy!
